Mocktail Recipes
Non-alcoholic drinks built with the same care as our cocktails. Virgin classics, fruit-forward fizzies, Dry January essentials, pregnancy-safe pours, and kid-friendly sippers. Zero proof, full flavor, proper drinks.
What is a mocktail?
A mocktail is a cocktail minus the alcohol. Same technique, same layering of flavor, same “yes, I made this on purpose” energy, just zero proof. Good mocktails are not afterthoughts; they are drinks designed to stand on their own, with the same attention to balance, texture, and presentation as their boozy siblings.
Whether you are doing Dry January, driving later, pregnant, hosting kids, or just do not feel like drinking tonight, mocktails let you be in the room without being the person nursing a glass of water. Drink Lab’s mocktail collection takes non-alcoholic drinks seriously: proper ratios, fresh citrus, real syrups, good ice, the right glass.
Every mocktail on this page is categorized three ways so you can find exactly what you want: by style (Virgin Classics, Fruit-Forward, Sparkling, Spicy, Frozen, Coffee and Tea, Creamy, Punch), by occasion (Dry January, Pregnancy-Safe, Kids, Designated Driver), and alphabetically A to Z.

How to make a great mocktail
Good mocktails follow the same rules as good cocktails. The alcohol is not what carries a drink; structure, balance, and technique are. Here are the things that separate a decent mocktail from a brilliant one.
Mocktail FAQ
What is a mocktail?
A mocktail is a cocktail without the alcohol. It uses the same techniques (shaking, stirring, muddling, layering) and the same attention to balance and flavor, but swaps the spirit for non-alcoholic alternatives like juice, cordial, soda, tea, or non-alcoholic spirits. A well-made mocktail is a proper drink, not a sad substitute.
Are mocktails healthier than cocktails?
Mocktails are usually lower in calories than cocktails because they skip the alcohol, which is energy-dense. But many mocktails use significant amounts of sugar syrup or fruit juice, so they can still be sugary. If you are watching calories, look for mocktails built on soda water, unsweetened tea, or fresh citrus with minimal added sugar.
Can I drink mocktails while pregnant?
Most mocktails are pregnancy-safe, but check the ingredients. Avoid mocktails with raw egg white, unpasteurized juice, or anything containing trace alcohol (some non-alcoholic spirits still contain up to 0.5% ABV). Our Pregnancy-Safe Mocktails collection filters to drinks that are clean across the board. When in doubt, check with your doctor.
What is Dry January?
Dry January is a 31-day alcohol-free challenge that started in the UK in 2013. Millions of people now do it each year to reset their drinking habits, lose a few kilos, sleep better, or just see what a sober month feels like. Mocktails make it easier: you still get to make yourself a proper drink, you just skip the alcohol. Our Dry January collection is updated every December with fresh picks.
What ingredients do I need for mocktails?
A basic mocktail bar needs: fresh citrus (lemons and limes), soda water, simple syrup (see our ratios guide), a few cordials (elderflower, grenadine), fresh herbs (mint, rosemary, basil), and fresh fruit for garnishes. That covers maybe 80% of mocktails. For more ambitious builds, add ginger beer, tonic water, coconut cream, fresh ginger, and a non-alcoholic spirit like Seedlip or Lyre’s.
Can kids drink mocktails?
Absolutely, most mocktails are kid-friendly. Just skip recipes that use non-alcoholic spirits (these can contain trace alcohol) or caffeine-heavy ingredients like espresso or strong tea. Our Kids Mocktails collection has already been filtered to the family-safe picks. Kids love the “fancy glass” experience; mocktails are the easiest way to include them in a dinner-party toast.
