The chateau bottle and the legend
The Chambord recipe is loosely based on a raspberry liqueur made in the Loire Valley in the late 1600s for King Louis XIV. The modern bottling launched in the 1980s, shaped like a globe with a metal crown, looking exactly as ostentatious as the marketing suggests.
Brown-Forman bought the brand in 2006. Production has stayed in the Loire.
