What it tastes like
Cooked agave with caramel, vanilla, light oak, and a peppery finish. Two months resting in small American oak barrels softens the spirit but leaves enough agave punch to mix with.
Drinks rounder than a blanco, drier than most Anejos. The classic reposado profile delivered on a budget.
How to drink it
Reposado Margarita, Paloma, El Diablo, Mexican Mule. Anywhere a touch of barrel adds depth without you wanting to sip the spirit on its own.
Decent for sipping neat at this price; better in cocktails. Cazadores Anejo is the proper sipper from the same family.

The deer on the label
Cazadores started in 1922 in Arandas, Jalisco. The name means hunters, the deer logo nods to the founding family’s hunting tradition. Bacardi acquired the brand in 2002. The distillery still runs in Arandas, with the original family recipe.
Cazadores was one of the first reposados to make it big in the United States in the early 2000s, sitting alongside Hornitos and 1800 in the affordable category that grew the whole tequila market.
Cazadores Reposado vs Cazadores Anejo
Reposado rests two months. Anejo rests at least one year. Reposado is built for cocktails. Anejo is built for sipping. Both share the same base distillate. If you only buy one, buy Reposado: it’s more versatile and cheaper.
Best cocktails to make with Cazadores Reposado
Cazadores Reposado adds a barrel layer to any classic tequila cocktail. Strong in stirred drinks and Margaritas alike.

Substitutions and swaps
Cazadores Reposado swaps cleanly into most reposado calls.
Cazadores is the value pick. Sub at 1:1.
Reposado will add caramel and oak. The drink will run sweeter and rounder. Often a nice variation.
Herradura Reposado or Patron Reposado are the next-tier swaps.
Cazadores plus lime plus a teaspoon of agave nectar gets you a Tommy’s-style Margarita.
Sub a third with mezcal. Del Maguey Vida or Bruxo for a fuller swap.
You want maximum oak. Cazadores rests for two months. Herradura, El Tesoro, or Casa Noble are richer.
You’re sipping neat and want polish. Cazadores Anejo is built for that. Reposado is built to mix.
You want a clean blanco profile. Reposado adds barrel. Buy a blanco if you don’t want it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers to what people ask about this bottle.
What is Cazadores Reposado tequila?
Cazadores Reposado is a 100% blue agave reposado tequila made in Arandas, Jalisco. It rests for two months in small American oak barrels and bottles at 40% ABV. Founded in 1922; owned by Bacardi since 2002.
Is Cazadores Reposado good tequila?
Yes, especially for the money. It is one of the best entry-level reposados on the market and a workhorse in mid-tier bars and home bars.
What does Cazadores Reposado taste like?
Cooked agave with caramel, vanilla, light oak, and a peppery finish. Drier than 1800 Reposado, lighter on oak than Herradura.
Cazadores vs 1800 Reposado, which is better?
Cazadores is drier and more peppery. 1800 is softer and sweeter. Cazadores for cocktails where you want agave to push through; 1800 for easier-drinking Margaritas.
Why is Cazadores so cheap?
Bacardi runs efficient production at scale, and Cazadores has always sat in the value tier. The juice is the same recipe it has been since 1922.
Can you drink Cazadores Reposado neat?
You can. It is smoother than a blanco thanks to the rest. For better neat sipping, Cazadores Anejo is the upgrade.
Is Cazadores Reposado gluten-free?
Yes. 100% blue agave, no grain, naturally gluten-free.
What is the best cocktail to make with Cazadores Reposado?
A Reposado Margarita with extra agave nectar and a bit more lime than usual. The barrel notes lift the drink without overpowering the citrus. El Diablo is a close second.
