Where it came from

Drambuie is a scotch-based liqueur with honey, herbs, and spice that's been made since the 1740s, supposedly from a recipe given to a Skye family by Bonnie Prince Charlie. The Rusty Nail combination of scotch and Drambuie shows up in print as early as the 1930s, but the drink became famous in the 1960s when the Rat Pack adopted it as their house drink.

Frank Sinatra ordered them at the Sands in Las Vegas. Dean Martin had them on stage. The drink stayed on Vegas menus and never quite left. Modern bars know it as a slow-sip after-dinner classic.

What it tastes like

Scotch warmth with honey-herb sweetness from the Drambuie. The Drambuie carries notes of heather honey, cloves, anise, and saffron, all rounded into a sweet liqueur that softens the scotch.

Two ingredients only. No citrus, no bitters, no garnish (except a lemon twist if you're feeling formal). The drink is meant to be sipped, not shot. It will warm you slowly.
